So far, "whipping together a 5-minute PPT" has taken about 4 hours and I'm about a third of the way done.

Because I'm wholly incapable of even introducing myself in less than 8 minutes I'm doing something I haven't done in years -- resorting to a written script. I've written the script, but in my rehearsals, I'm still at 6m20s, so I have to find 1m20s to cut out.

Then I start with the process of creating the visuals, of which I expect there to be 20-30. I think I'll have it done by the time I get off of my 6 hour plane flight on Wednesday. (If not, there's always Thursday to continue working on it.)

My 90-minute presentations are just *so* much easier...

I look forward to seeing you there.

5 minutes? Wow, at least we had 10 minutes at DUX03. This year I have a poster session, which I've frankly never done. Frustrating for me was that it meant considerable expense to prepare in contrast to whipping together a 5 minute PPT, or even not. I had to create a tangible artifact. I had to engage the services of a designer to create that artifact and I had to pay $100+ to have it printed.

And having never gone through the conference poster session process myself, I'm not sure that it's the "right" artifact to have a meaningful exchange with people...we shall see, I guess.
