Christine Preparing for Her 90-Mile Ride
May 9th, 2006
Christine Perfetti is busy preparing for her upcoming 90-mile Hyannis Port Challenge ride.
Last year she rode 94 miles in 45F temperature, with a steady rain and high winds. This year, we’re hoping for much calmer weather.
You can spot her in the crowd at the starting line here:

Amidst the other 400 riders was MA Senator John Kerry:

Here’s Christine (biker on the left) riding out of the first checkpoint, with only 70 miles to go:

The ride’s charity, Best Buddies, is really quite remarkable. Founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, it helps people with intellectual disabilities enhance their lives with close friendships and integrated employment. At last years ride, I had the chance to meet several buddies and I found them to be charming and fun.
So far, Christine has raised more than $1,300 for Best Buddies and the ride. To support her, we’re matching donations. If you want, you can donate to support her ride. Even small donations are welcome — every dollar counts (and counts twice because of our matching donation).
I’m going to ride in Christine’s pit crew this year and I’ll be sure to update you on her progress. We’re all really excited about the ride and wish her the best of luck!

My husband and I will be helping out at the Duxbury pitstop/reststop, one of many they have for the riders along the way. Its always a fun event & and a terrific cause.
See you there.
