The Tagging Followup Discussion Video
August 10th, 2006
If listening to an MP3 with nothing to look at isn’t your style, you can watch a video of the podcast Josh and I just made to answer questions people had about Josh’s recent UIE Virtual Seminar on Tagging.
Our good friend, Andy Bourland, kindly made the video and put it up on Google Videos for us, but you can watch it here.
Unfortunately, the sound quality isn’t as good as the podcast MP3s, unless you love that talking-through-a-kazoo sound. But it does have the advantage of seeing me and Josh wiggle about as we make the recording and you get to see how incredibly messy my office is.

[...] Today I was watching and listening to Jared Spool and Joshua Porter discussing the subject of tagging. Great stuff in there, for instance about the implicit value that’s generated at sites as del.icio.us, because people that tag bookmarks do so for themselves. [...]

Great chat about tagging.. thanks a lot. i think you could also talk about thesaurisation of tags. I think it could provide lot of solutions to contextualization of tags. Tags have a neuronal structure like thesaurus.
Tag system are also realy interesting in the language dependant context. In my country, we have 3 national languages and then it adds some more fun in finding a good tagging mechanism
The Zdnet case of trigger words mining with del.icio.us is great, thanks !
