September 26th, 2006

The Greater Boston Chapter of the ACM is offering a very cool two-day event on the topic of AJAX. It’s a great price ($495 for two days if you register before 9/30) and has some kick-ass speakers. Here’s the details:

Deep AJAX

A two-day deep dive into developing real world applications using AJAX

Details at www.gbcacm.org

What: Deep AJAX – rich, interactive Web applications
When: October 14-15, 2006
Where: Maxwell Dworkin Building, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA
Price: $495 through Sept. 30, $600 after Sept. 30, Group discounts available
Priority code: UIE2006

About the Seminar:

AJAX — more an approach than a technology — is one of the hottest topics for Internet developers. AJAX builds rich interactive applications using standard browser technology, enabling delivery of sophisticated user experiences without the problems of distributing and updating client software.

This seminar is designed for Web developers on a deadline and in trouble — or anticipating being in trouble! — who are developing interactive Web applications that stretch the bounds of the possible.

We are taking some of the leading developers of AJAX Websites and tools — people who have “been there and done that” (and lived to tell about it…) — and giving them the time to delve into the details of what it takes to make the AJAX buzzword into real applications

If you are looking for high level overviews, marketing presentations and academic theory, this isn’t the course for you. On the other hand, if you are “up to your eyeballs in alligators” and want to learn from people who have already drained this swamp, then we’ll see you in October!

Speakers:

  • Alex Russell – Project Lead for Dojo Toolkit, President Dojo Foundation
  • Adrian Holvaty – Lead Developer, Django Web Framework
  • Simon Willison - Yahoo! User Interface technology development team

  1. David Malouf Says:

And just earlier that week if you want to learn how to DESIGN web applications based on AJAX or other RIA technologies, you should come to UI11 and see Bill and I speak on just that topic … Jared, is there any space yet?

What a shame that the org that has SIGCHI doesn’t include a design element in that event …. More for us, eh?
