Starting a New Adventure
July 17th, 2008
Tomorrow is a bittersweet day for me. July 18th is my last official day working at User Interface Engineering. For eight years, I’ve been excited and happy to come to the office every day, continually challenged by my work.
While my job role has evolved significantly over the years, I’ve enjoyed every moment: conducting usability research, collaborating with the leaders in the world of design, consulting with clients, teaching courses, developing new product lines, and most recently, managing the day to day operations of the company.
Why am I leaving? I’ve been involved with the east coast usability and design scene for more than a decade and I believe it’s time for a change of scenery. This September, I’ll be moving to San Francisco to pursue new career possibilities and begin a personal adventure. I’m not sure what my next business venture will be, but stay tuned!
This was a difficult decision for me, but I’m extremely grateful for the support I’ve received from everyone at UIE. I would like to thank all of my co-workers for making UIE such a fun and exciting place to work. I would especially like to thank Jared Spool for giving me the opportunity to learn from his brilliance for nearly a decade. Jared: you’ve been a wonderful mentor and friend.
I expect to collaborate with the great folks at UIE in the not-too-distant future. I have full confidence that User Interface Engineering will continue to be a leader in the field for years to come.

Congrats, Christine! Looking forward to hearing what is next for you. If the last 8 years is any indication, your next move will be nothing short of superb.

I wish you lots of luck in your new adventure. I truly enjoyed working with you during my stint at UIE and I’m sure you’ll continue to do great things on the other coast. Keep us all informed.

I moved to the Bay Area over four years ago and have loved it right from the start. It is a wonderful place for technology design. Lots of opportunities and more importantly, lots of respect for the craft. I’m sure you have everything covered, but if there is anything I can do to help, please feel free to ask. Best of Luck.

Thanks for the encouragement. I’m really excited for this move and plan to keep everyone updated.
