This article was published nearly 3 years ago, and since then I've heard a slew of talks that you've given on this topic, claiming that these questions are based on research with lots of different user experience teams.

3 years and you still haven't published the data behind these assertions.

How do we know that you're not just making this stuff up? It makes a good story, but without any real data behind it, that's all it is: a good story.

Very interesting article. I agree completely about these questions. However, it is very difficult to practice them. It will be great if you can provide more examples.

Great read and especially liked the point on "cultures that relish failure".

@Colin: Glad you liked the article. I agree that the bar is set high, but that's what separates those who are doing a great job from the rest.

As for grisly vs. grizzly, that's something I never knew. Learn something new every day. :) (For those wondering what I'm talking about, it's a reference to the email edition of the UIEtips, which you can sign up for here.

You set a high bar with those three questions, Jared, but it's a good one. In most places even three years would be well beyond the range of the organization's vision, and three months would be recent for seeing customers in action. And many would claim they celebrate failure, while the fact is they don't mind the fact of failure so much -- but talking about it loud is punished severely.

In an attempt to keep the bar equally high on your excellent copywriting skills, I'll just mention that for something disgusting, the word is "grisly" rather than "grizzly" (which means gray-haired). You can happily delete this part of the comment. :)
