What is RSS?
An RSS feed reader helps you stay up-to-date on our latest blog posts. By subscribing to our UIE Brain Sparks feed, you’ll be notified of new content within minutes of its release.
How to Subscribe
Subscribe to our feed here: http://www.uie.com/brainsparks/feed/ . If you don’t know how to do this, please continue reading our instructions.
How It Works
Feed readers regularly query web site feeds to see if they’ve been updated. When a site is updated, the feed reader downloads the latest content and notifies you when something new has been published.
Choosing a Feed Reader
Here are several feed readers we recommend:
- FeedDemon (desktop, Windows only)
- Shrook (desktop, Mac only)
- NetNewsWire (desktop, Mac only)
- Bloglines (web, either Mac or Windows)
If you choose a desktop feed reader, you’ll have to install it. Web-based feed readers usually require creating an account.
Add Feeds to the Feed Reader
After you have installed your desktop feed reader or chosen an online feed reader, you can now add feeds to it. Each feed reader does this in a slightly different way. In most feed readers, you simply copy and paste the URL of the feed (seen below) into the feed reader. Luckily, most offer help or tutorials if you get stuck.

After you’ve added feeds (often called subscribing), your feed reader will keep track of them over time. In the event that any of these feeds are updated, your feed reader will let you know instantly.
Check Your Feed Reader Regularly
Now that you have the Brain Sparks feed, as well as any others you’ve subscribed to, you can simply check your feed reader regularly to see if any of the sites have been updated. You won’t have to visit each site every single time because the feed reader does that work for you!
